My First Practice

Welcome to Kailin's ICT journey. Nice to meet you here!πŸ˜€

Hey guys, I am Kailin! It is really exciting for me to write blogs.

Especially since this is my first time doing it. 😬

Well, I will express my true feelings and share my opinions in my ICT journey Blog!

Hope you guys enjoy it! πŸ˜„

Let's start my first ICT journey with me ~πŸ˜‰

What is ICT?  Well, ICT is Information and Communication Technology.

I will focus on developing my knowledge of TESOL related to ICT.

This blog will talk about my points on Larry Ferlazzo's blog.

It is stressful for me to write a blog now. πŸ‘€

So, let's take a break and see a wonderful picture I took in Iceland last month!

This photo is fantastic, isn't it? πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Organisation and Layout

Yeah, it is clear to see it. The author's blogs follow a system: a picture with content. For example, he writes a significant topic sentence in the page's head before attaching a big image. After that, he starts to introduce his topic. In addition, he uses mainly three colours to lay out his words: blue, black and white. They are clear to read, well-organised, as well as follow the same system.

Content and Features

His content relates to teaching and learning English: teachers, students, students' parents, ELL, ESL, classroom practice, classroom motivation, listening, reading and multilingual. Moreover, he provides many links that subjects can use English to teach, such as math, art, social study and science. His content especially contains diverse topics: economics and jobs, culture, music, holiday, celebrations, health and games.

Ease of use and Navigation

His blog homepage is easy to follow, and if you are new to his blog, he provides a circumstance that links to several topics that connect teaching and learning English. However, there are too hard to follow the way around because after clicking a link, there will be more links showing up. It is easy for me to distract and forget what I was looking for on his blog. And I don't think people will remember what they were looking for at the beginning after seeing plenty of links. In addition, his titles are repetitive, and they look similar.

Target Audience

This blog is for people interested in teaching English, learning English, being an English teacher, self-learning English, learning how to deal with different situations in class, and cooperating with students' parents. According to his recent blogs' comments, there were decreasing significantly. Unfortunately, they are zero comments, basically.

Summary

First of all, I learned how he organised his blog, and I think it is helpful to attach some pictures to decorate my blog and use three colours in words such as blue, black and pink. Secondly, the blog title should be short and interesting instead of long and repetitive. Thirdly, the number of links means something other than easy to read and find what you are looking for because people might get distracted by many associations. Finally, if this blog is for teaching English and related topics, it is crucial to mainly focus on writing these.

This is the end of my first blog. ✔

Thank you for reading here! πŸ™

I appreciated it a lot! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Let's take a rest and watch a video  ~ πŸ“Ί

  3. Hi Kailin - I love your blogging style - you are so 'chilled' and confident that you can pause half way through the post and give us a beautiful picture - it really shows your character and makes your blog stand out as being unique to you - well done. The way that you start with the font centred makes us notice your introduction's short sentences but when you start making serious points you go back to a more normally justified text - again it is a uniquely personal style! It is clear that you are putting the features you learned from the blog into your own blog, good work! Well done for embedding a YouTube video - she talks about a '7 figure business' - hmm I'm not sure any of us will reach that but she has some great tips for those who want to make money from blogging! Please wait until after the module though :-) ! Keep up the good work!

  4. This is really a Kailin style blog hhhhh. I really enjoy to read it. The suggestion may be try to use one larger size font? But it's ok, not a problem.
