An AI tool that can help you to think and use in your class - ChatGPT

Welcome to Kailin's ICT journey.

Nice to meet you here!πŸ˜€

I share my opinions and thoughts in my ICT journey Blog!

This blog talks about how to teach English via technology.

Hope you guys enjoy it! πŸ˜„

Before starting, I want to share a picture I took in Iceland!
This photo was taken while hiking on the glacier.

It is soooo amazing, isn't it? πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Let's explore a new technology that might influence the way you teach language in class in the future ~πŸ˜‰

This technology is called ChatGPT
It is an AI technology which interacts in a conversational way.

You, as a teacher, can request it to answer your questions, and it will admit its mistakes if it is made. Or asking it to give you some advice on your teaching materials.

Why is this technology relevant to language teaching?

If you ask ChatGPT about anything related to English teaching advice, it will give you several answers that you can look at.  You also can type any teaching method, and it will provide you with some examples and information.

For example, you can type how to use the PPP method in teaching English. It will provide several ideas. However, the PPP answers might differ from your expected thoughts. When I type the PPP method for English teaching, the PPP here I think is presentation, practice and production. But, the results come out from Chat GPT is the Purchasing Power Parity method which uses in economics. It is totally different from what I mean. Even though it still provides 5 ways to combine the economic PPP method in the English classroom activity.

This picture is an example.

According to this result, I can say this AI technology is really amazing. Even if it searches for different topics, it can still give you the response you are looking for. In the end, you might get new thoughts from its results.

I think we can get any information from ChatGPT by asking it questions. But as a teacher, it is still important to search essays, articles, and teaching resources from elevated platforms such as google scholar or the library. It is our responsibility to teach students knowledge from literature.

Target Audience

This tool is for everyone. It is easy to access this tool. You just need to sign up for the account to use it directly.

What limitations can you see with the use of this technology?

It might occasionally generate incorrect information for students or any users. Moreover, this tool has no rules to control its product and work. And this tool will not be able to replace teachers because it doesn't has emotion.

This is the end of my blog. ✔

Thank you for reading here! πŸ™

I appreciated it a lot! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Let's watch a video about her thoughts on how to use Chat GPT for learning and practising English

  1. Hi Kailin, I agree with you that AI will not replace teachers since it does not have feelings or emotions. I believe that! I also think it can be a good helper of teachers, just like a partner or friend. We can talk to it, and it may provide some useful ideas or suggestions to our teaching practice.

  2. ChatGPT can really be one of the hottest topics right now! I've also written a blog about the controversy surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in teaching English, and I agree that the role of the teacher cannot be replaced. What do you think about the role will all human emotions play in teaching interactions? Looking forward to hearing your deeper and more informed views!
