How to help students learn vocabulary in a fun way? Wordwall

Welcome to Kailin's ICT journey.

Nice to meet you here!πŸ˜€

Hey guys, I am Kailin! See you again here. πŸ˜„

I will express my true feelings and share my opinions in my ICT journey Blog!

This blog talks about how to teach English via technology.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Before starting, I want to share a picture I took in Iceland!
A frozen world with a wonderful view

The glacier is amazing, isn't it? πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Let's see a fun website for memorizing vocabulary words ~πŸ˜‰

This website is named Wordwall
There are plenty of activities for you to create vocabulary exercises for students to learn more fun.
And it is easy to create your teaching resource.
It only takes three steps to customise your teaching content.

Why is this technology relevant to language learning?

This website provides diverse templates, and there are 18 templates in it. The form of each template is a game. The teacher can choose one to interact with students so that students can learn English vocabulary for fun. For example, one of the templates is called a "Labelled diagram". If you click on it, it will show many examples of practices, such as parts of the body, rooms in a house etc. Students should drag and drop the pins to the correct place on the image.

What approaches to language learning or research underpin the use of this technology?

It matches the classroom motivation. First, the teacher can create a template for students to learn vocabulary. Based on this template is a sort of game; students will engage in practising and using it more. According to Ushioda, "personal uses of technologies for own needs and interests" will lead to "potential for creatively" and "develop their language skills." Eventually, students might use Wordwall to create their own template and practice English vocabulary. Because when they can gain a sense of achievement while using this tool to learn English in a fun way.

How might you use it to foster language learning?

I myself, as an English teacher. When I used this tool for the first time, it was fascinating. On the one hand, there are different kinds of templates game. On the other hand, this tool's content is beneficial and diverse. I can discover various sorts of categories.

Moreover, I played these games several times. So, I will create interesting topics for my students to let them play these games. The more time you spend on it, the more improvement of English vocabulary you can memorize.

Target Audience

This tool is for students or teachers interested in learning English words and grammar. In addition, you can choose or create different languages' words to learn.

What limitations can you see with the use of this technology?

I think this tool is great for learning vocabulary. However, it could include the sentences examples belw the words. And show the meaning explanations after practising. Learning how to use the words in the sentence authentically would be complete.

This is the end of my blog. ✔

Thank you for reading here! πŸ™

I appreciated it a lot! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Let's watch a video about how to use Wordwall~ πŸ“Ί
